So what is Reiki...really?

If you’ve come across Reiki before, you may have seen it described as “energy healing”. And while that’s not wrong, it doesn’t really describe the experience of it.
At its essence, Reiki is a practice of returning—to presence, to stillness, and to a natural state of balance within the body and mind.
Rather than something that is “done” to you, Reiki creates a space where your system can begin to soften, unwind, and restore itself in its own way.
During a session, many people experience a sense of deep relaxation. You may feel warmth, subtle movement, or simply a quieting of the mind. Every experience is different, guided by the innate wisdom of your body.
This gentle process can also support the body’s natural capacity for physical healing. As the nervous system settles and the body moves out of stress, it becomes more able to rest, repair, and rebalance. In this way, Reiki supports not only physical healing, but also a shift in the patterns of stress, worry, or tension that can affect our overall well-being.
The word Reiki is often translated as “universal life energy,” but this can be a little misleading. While Ki refers to life energy, Rei means spiritual, and in this sense, Reiki is not something external that is given to you, but something that supports you in reconnecting with what is already present within you.
In Reiki, this is often described as reconnecting with an inner light - your essential nature– something that is always present, even if it feels obscured by the busyness of the mind or emotional overwhelm.
This is why Reiki is not about fixing or changing you. It’s about allowing.
From this place of allowing, there is often a sense of spaciousness—physically, mentally, and emotionally. And within that space, the body and mind can begin to rebalance naturally.
So, what is Reiki… really?
It’s not just a technique and it’s not only about energy.
It’s a deeply supportive, restorative experience—one that nurtures both physical and emotional well-being, and, for many, becomes a gentle doorway back to themselves.
If this resonates with you and you feel called to experience Reiki for yourself, you’re very welcome to book a session here in Bali.
